MATT STRUEMPF
I am excited to share with you my knowledge, experience, and successes I have had as a competitive swimmer and swim coach. My passion for swimming began at the age of four. I swam on a competitive recreational team for fourteen years. I then moved on to become a competitive collegiate swimmer and All American water polo player. Throughout my competitive years I was fortunate to be guided by some of the areas most prestigious coaches and managers. Their influences lead me to the path of becoming a coach myself. Aquatic has been a big part of my life and I feel that it comes second nature to me.
My experience includes 24 years as a swimmer and 12 years as a coach. I have coached all levels of swimmers from age 4 to 70. My most notable coaching has been 8 years with a team that is considered the best in the Contra Costa recreational league (Crow Canyon Sea Lions). The team achieved a 15th place finish my first year as their Head coach in the County swim meet. 5 years later we became County Champions. The children on Crow Canyon are ranked as some of the fastest swimmers in the state. Crow Canyon has been one of the most recognizable swim teams in the area and I am proud to have been part of their three recreational titles in a row.
In addition to coaching recreational swimming, I helped start a Fall Program at Crow Canyon which has evolved into a year round swim team. The children that swim on the team have become nationally ranked and one of them just received a scholarship to various Colleges
As a coach my goal has always been to devote all my attention to the swimmers while I am on the job. I will bring reliability, experience, devotion, passion, and management skills to Sycamore Swim Team.
